Adobe Illustrator CEP Extension

Match your artwork to your swatches. Generate the mill sheet.

Swatch Mill analyzes your Illustrator artwork against your loaded color library, shows you exactly which swatches appear and at what coverage, then builds the print and graphic mill sheets your production team needs.

Matches artwork to your library ━ Load your .ASE file and the plugin finds which of your swatches appear in the artwork — with exact coverage percentages.
Handles vectors, PSDs, and rasters ━ Analyzes vector shapes, placed Photoshop files, PNGs, and JPGs in a single pass.
Generates mill-ready output sheets ━ Print Mill Sheets, Graphic Mill Sheets, and Presentation Fills added directly as new artboards to your document.

Why Swatch Mill

The color-matching tool apparel designers actually needed

Manually identifying which swatches are in your artwork — and at what coverage — is slow and error-prone. Swatch Mill does it right, automatically, every time.

Built for the mill submission workflow

Mill sheets, coverage specs, ground color designation — Swatch Mill speaks the language of textile production from the ground up.

  • Print Mill Sheet formatted for mill submission
  • Graphic Mill Sheet links your artwork imagery

Handles real-world artwork complexity

Whether your design is all-vector, has placed Photoshop files, or is a raster image, Swatch Mill handles it in a single analysis pass.

  • Supports vector shapes, placed PSDs, PNG, and JPG
  • Fit artwork to artboard bounds for best results

RGB required — and that's intentional

Swatch Mill works with RGB .ASE files because pixel-level color analysis is done in Photoshop. CMYK files trigger a warning so you never submit an inaccurate spec.

  • CMYK warning prevents spec errors reaching the mill
  • Photoshop opens automatically if it isn't already running

Built different

A plugin built around the apparel production process

No subscriptions. No cloud dependency. Just a focused tool that does one thing extremely well — and speaks the language of mill submissions.

Illustrator panel, Photoshop power

Works as a native CEP panel inside Illustrator, but uses Photoshop's rendering engine under the hood for pixel-accurate color analysis.

Your library, your rules

Swatch Mill matches against the color library you provide — not a generic palette. Your brand colors, your standards, your output.

Output goes straight to the document

Mill sheets and presentation fills are generated as new artboards inside your existing Photoshop document — no file juggling required.

How it works

From artwork selection to mill sheet in three steps

Load your library, analyze your artwork, generate your output. No manual color spec work required.

1

Load your .ASE swatch library

Click Load .ASE File or drag and drop your swatch library into the panel. It needs to be in RGB color mode — CMYK will trigger a warning. Saved libraries reload in one click next session.

2

Select your artwork and analyze

Select the artwork inside your artboard — Swatch Mill handles vectors, placed Photoshop files, PNGs, and JPGs. Click Analyze Artwork. Photoshop opens automatically if needed and does the pixel-level analysis.

3

Review matches and generate your output

Matched swatches appear with coverage percentages. Refine with the eyedropper, ground color, and Min % slider, then generate a Print Mill Sheet, Graphic Mill Sheet, or Presentation Fill as a new artboard in your document.
